COVID-19 and Food Safety and Security, on The Polar Potluck

Revisit our live-recorded show from March 18, 2020, when we discussed Alaska’s food security and safety state of affairs, through the lens of COVID-19. Special guests Lorinda Lhotka and Jeremy Ayers from Alaska’s Department of Environmental Conservation spoke about changes happening in food businesses, and where to access updated resources to keep the doors open as long as possible.

Senior Nutrition Director for Anchorage School District, Andy Mergens, closed out the show with an update on how they’re feeding the largest school system in the state, when kids are actually in school. Modeling their summer lunch programs, school busses are making the rounds with breakfasts and lunches to keep our youth fed.

This show is just the beginning of a series on our ever-evolving regulations, policies, and best practices on staying healthy and well fed in times of change. Stay tuned for future shows on this topic!
